Good product for the money...Made in the USA A good value for the money and it's made in America......I have PVC plumbing in my house and I don't suggest using the "push together" fittings that the stores sell......They some times don't hold. I recommend the compression fittings. They are reliable and easy to use. Use pipe thread compound rather than teflon tape; it seals much better. If you are lucky enough to have copper piping sweating all the fitting is the way to go. April 20, 2014
nice product prior plumbing matched eqsy instatilation appeareancee other family members have same product April 20, 2014
Design Flaw The Pressure Relief Valve/Pipe connection was on the wrong side of the unit, so that when we installed it the thermostat access panels are facing the wall. My husband said that he can still get to them but he will have to use a mirror to adjust it. Big Bummer for me - the wife, who likes to have control. That is the only drawback so far though. It was fairly easy to install. And in six months or so then I' ll know if it saves money on the electric bill ! April 13, 2014
Good value/Easy installation/ Well recommended Installation is typical and easy for anyone with any basic plumbing knowledge. Having bought several of these units over the past 20 years for various projects, they typically function and last well beyond their warranty. The price is excellent for the value. Choosing a fifty gallon tank has never been a regret. The Electric usuage for a small household is no more than for a smaller unit and you virtually never run out of hotwater. (There's nothing worse than climbing in a shower while the wife is doing laundry or dishes to find there is only cold water available!) That never happens at our house. What I love about these units is the fact that they have only three problems that can go wrong with them mechanically speaking. Living in south Texas where water has high mineral content, elements can and do go out, but rarely and almost never with proper maintenance. I have never had to replace a thermostat on one. And, I have never had a tank form a leak. While no unit is ever fault-free...this is as close as you come. HIGHLY recommended above the digital units and the ones that heat water as you use it. This product is a good home upgrade! My old water heater was not producing enough hot water for three showers and a load of laundry. This unit has plenty of water and was a breeze to install. The unit is easy to handle and has four simple connections: Hot, Cold, Pressure Valve and Electric (2 wires) plus ground. I installed this unit in one hour and did not require any special tools. If this unit lasts the 6 years on the warranty I will have saved over $3000 in electric usage and had the ability to enjoy a hot shower......after my wife finished! (smile) March 30, 2014
Great product Water heater went on the evening of March 27, drove to Lowes around 7:30 that evening and had it installed around 9:30 pm, so far every thing is great about it. March 28, 2014
Great Quality 3rd Whirlpool water heater and would buy no other for the price! March 14, 2014
Great Price but higher cost of operations The price was very good but just a couple of items that I am not happy with. The on going cost estimate was much higher than my first water heater (wish they would show estimated cost on box). The second item was drain valve is plastic. Also for the people that have a drain pans the valve does not fit inside. Not sure if valve could be a little higher up on the water hear. The old water heater valve placement did not have this issue. March 14, 2014
50 gallon tall electric water heater * installation instructions adequate * self installation very easy * started up & heated water as expected * maintains set water temperature Note: the water heater comes only with the pressure relief valve & two pieces of pipe insulation; you must purchase bi-metallic connector pipes, pipe adaptors, and all hook-up pipes. I would purchase this product again (have only used the water heater for two weeks). March 6, 2014
Great Features The whirlpool water heaters are very dependable and look great. February 24, 2014
