Easy to install and ease of start up
We purchased this water heater as a replacement for our old, tired one. We have hard water, so it will be awhile to see how this water heater handles it, but so far, so good!

Besides providing hot water, this is a nice looking unit.
Was surprised to see the dielectric fittings and T & P valve were included with this water heater. Installation was non-eventful. The electronic controls were plug and play and very easy to operate. I spend more money that I ever have for a water heater and in the end I think this is going to be a good decision.

Very Good Product, One Caveat
The only thing I'd suggest to anyone considering this product is, if you have more than two people in your household or you like to take long showers, definitely buy the next higher gallon capacity heater. Would have given a 5 star rating but the product description we read before purchasing suggested that the 40 gallon would be sufficient for up to 3 people; since there are only 2 of us here we decided to replace our failing 50 gallon water heater with this one. After using it for 6 months, I'd say that's a stretch. It's sufficient for a home with 2 people who like short showers (doesn't describe us!) and who don't run their dishwasher very often. Adding a water saving shower head helps, so we're sticking with it.

Just installed - so far it's great
Just replaced a 6-year warranty 40-gal State water heater with this Whirlpool model. I picked this one for the following reasons:
1) price (was on sale at Lowes)
2) warranty (didn't want another 6-year tank that dies just over 6 years)
3) size (fits through the doorway to attic space)
With the new water heater standards going into effect April 2015, I needed to replaced a failed tank with one that would fit into my attic. The new ones are supposed to be quite a bit wider (due to extra insulation to achieve new gov't ratings). This tank had 1" to spare going through my doorway to the attic.
My house runs on two 40-gal, so I bought a 2nd one and will install it shortly since the remaining State tank has a slow leak.
Installation was very easy.
Powered it on, set it to 125F and tested the water about an hour later - nice and hot (decided to dial it back to the default setting of 120F).
So, only a few hours of runtime, but so far so good. If it does not live up to expectations, I'll come back and post again.

Hot water when I need it
We have 3 bathrooms for the two of us, we do laundry, dishwasher and the 40 gallon electric water heater provides all of our needs. I own a 6 unit apt building and I do all my own work replacing water heaters and this unit that I purchased last September of 2014 is doing an excellent job. I always write the date of installation on the side of the unit to remove all doubt when it was installed.

looks OK 90%
I liked everything except drain valve, not sure if it's a good design. it turned easy with screw driver. but i don't know it will with time &corrsion. there,s no instrucions in manual how to operate it ,I tried turning the knob that was'ent to turn it on,I found out, then it sprayed water when I used screw driver, so Ihad to tighten knob to stop leak seems to work now,but position is sensitive to keep from dripping.
