Energy efficient As a dedicated GE employee and with the hope to be energy efficient, I seriously considered the GE Geo-Spring Hybrid even though it more expensive...thinking it would be a good long term investment. There was some question as to whether it would work in my basement. So, I thought an energy model might be the next best option. I like "vacation" mode. Hopefully I'll notice a lower utility bill.....it's too soon to now. September 28, 2014
like the features and energy smart feature Have not had this water heater long for a meaningful evaluation of it but if it is as good or better than the one I just replaced I will be happy. September 27, 2014
Unit was very complete and easy to install I liked the ease of installation, and the online registration too. September 25, 2014
Awesome upgrade What a difference these new water heaters are. This model does just enough of what is really needed. Self diagnostic with large numbers to read, easy push buttons also. It has a few features to accommodate everyone. Either control it by temp alone, or have it learn behavior, and even a vacation mode. Set up was a snap. Do yourself a favor and use the push-in type of connectors. Nothing more to say but , great! September 25, 2014
Hope it lasts This was a replacement for a previous Whirlpool 9 yr that started to leak after 5 years. Previous no longer made and Lowes wanted to charge me the difference for the newer one but I convenced them that it was between Whirlpool and Lowes - not me since it was still under waranty. I always remove the foam on top of the anode before I install the heater because it is easier to get out then and not later when I need to check the anode. Whoever put on the top cap of the heater did not center the anode opening over the actual anode which meant if you wanted to remove the anode you could not get a socket on it. About 1/4 of the anode was covered by the top cap. I had to grind the top cap opening over the anode larger so I could get the socket to fit on the anode. Hard to write a valid review since I just installed it. Like I said, hope it lasts. September 23, 2014
will review at later date this is my 3rd 50 gallon heater decided to try one more time with different model. one in 2002 another in 2008 both went bad. if this one fails believe me i will never buy another whirlpool product again. present own a washerand dryer, thank goodness no problems so far. Like the vacation mode and digital temp setting It has a vacation mode feature which is nice. And the digital temp setting is very easy to set. It does raise concerns with me when a new feature is added to a pretty utilitarian product. It makes me think that if something does go wrong with the heater it will probably be related to the digital faceplate. September 14, 2014
too early to tell the unit was fairly easy to install.i've read mixed reviews about this unit's controls, but has been fairly consistent so far. i've noticed that the temperature supply lasts longer than my old one which is nice. it's only been a few weeks so it's too soon to see. Easy to install, worked properly immediatly. Liked the connection box space/design. Clean look and excellent LCD control screen/buttons. Eager to see how the smart energy control learns patterns and saves electricity. September 13, 2014
old reliable easy install, nice electronic feature, if its as good as last one, this family of 8 will be very happy September 13, 2014
