50 Gallon Liquid Propane Gas Water Heater - L50T61-403
Easy to install, only minor sodering required
My old water heater had the relief valve connected to the top of the unit. The new one is located on the side. I used most of the existing copper pipe to re-route the line.
I experienced some minor leaking from the top(coming from hot/cold inlets), which was caused because I did not use plumber's putty initially. I reassembled these connections using both teflon paste and tape and it is now leak free.

Great product so I searched and found the same one and bought it.
Altho the WH I had B-4 was the same WH as this one only under a different name and mod. # it's the same unit as my previous WH. For 14 years the 1st WH operated great and never at 1 time ran low of hot water. Love the 1st one and expect to rely on at least 14 more years of trouble free hot water !!!

We replaced our existing whirlpool water heater with this new one, it went in like a dream took us about an hour total. So far, so good.

I like the new type of control valve and the convenient lighting system. It's a very big plus
Everything came as expected. Lowe’s delivered Both Hot water heaters in perfect shape. The delivery men were pleasant, courteous, and efficient. They took both water heaters to the basement and opened both boxes so I could inspect each heater. When they left they took the leftover mess with them. I had no clean up.
A professional plumber installed them as the first installer didn’t install the previous 2 heaters correctly. Example, he installed the expansion tank on the hot water side instead of the cold side. Be careful about this as the rubber bladder can’t take the hot water.
It took a couple of hours for this pro-plumber to re-plumb the original mistakes. For those of you that don’t need two water heaters the extra plumbing and parts plus a recirculating pump to keep hot water at each fixture is a pretty big job. It would have been easier for this last plumber if he hadn’t have had to take apart and rebuilt the whole system.
Upon the first light of each heater, they both started the first try. Both heaters were put in the “B” mode. Both heaters have worked perfectly since. However it’s been only about a week.
Someone else mentioned on one of these reviews that this particular heater was rather noisy compared to his previous heaters. I noticed the same thing. At this short time observing, this is my only negative. However, I also observed as other reviews had, that they mentioned a higher efficiency compared to their old hot water heaters.
I believe the extra noise is caused by extra combustion air due to the altitude, and the resulting efficiency is a result of more efficient burning of the propane. I can’t know about the actual costs yet as my 1000 gallon propane tank won’t be filled for another 3 months. I might add I live at almost 9,000 feet. This particular propane 50 gal hot water heater was one of a very few that were rated to 10,000 feet. Let me add a guess with you. It seems like the heating time is less on these heaters than my old heaters.

I obviously haven’t had these heaters long enough to find out. However up to today, and I’m 75, I’ve never seen any hot water heater give bad results after the initial setup.

This water heater was ok to install till it came to the recessed water fittings on top.
Its been an ok heater, but there is an odor of propane when I get home from work. But I have no detectable leaks.
