Just installed hoping for the best
Instalation was not difficult, it was very close to the size of the one I replaced so I only had to shim the stand about a 1/2 inch and all the pipes fit perfwctly. Easy to light and quiet when heating. Hope it last as long as my last water heater (22 years)

A pretty good value
I installed the unit myself. Since our basement isn't finished it was easy. My only problem with it is that it didn't come with the nipples to connect to the water lines and didn't specifically say they were needed on the box or in the installation instructions. It didn't take long to get them, Teflon tape the ends and hook them up. Now I don't get frostbite when I wash my hands!

Good features, few drawbacks
Sophisticated control is a bonus, and seperates from the competition. Makes it easy to know if the unit is functioning correctily and offers good protection features. My only complaints about the unit is that the burner is much-much louder than the 30year old Rheem we replaced and the efficiency metric is only average. Otherwise the unit seems well built and had no flaws or problems with installing. Most importantly, we've got lots of hot water now!

Great product
Just had this installed and am a name brand shopper - WhirlPool is the brand. The cost of the product to include installation was reasonable and was delivered/installed 2 dys earlier than scheduled. The heater heats the water very quickly and we have yet to be without hot water when needed. Great product and would definetly recommend.

Overall decent water heater
This seams to be a decent water heater. The only thing I don't like is the fact that it has a cheap plastic drain valve. Also, I wanted to buy a 2" thick insulated water heater to replace the one that I had, but all you can find anymore is the one inch thick insulated water heaters. In order to rectify the situation I bought a water heater blanket for it that should help. You can buy those fairly cheap and they will pay off for you in the long run.

2X was necessary
I placed my initial order on 11/3/11.
It arrived at Lowe's on 11/18/11 but i was leaving town the next day so it could not be installed until 11/30/11. However the product was damaged and I could not accept the product. The packaging was not damaged so who ever was in charge of quality control of sending the product out should be held responsible.
Shabby. I will think twice about ordering another Whirlpool product.

So far it works like a water heater should.
I just installed this water heater so it is too early to comment about reliability, but I do have concerns about long term durability of the gas control valve system.
Installation was as easy as any other water heater, the only dislikes for me would be the composite water fitting bungs and the wiring from the gas control to the heater is a little sloppy. On the plus side, it looks good, has a flammable vapor safety system, pilot is easy to light, has a fair warranty and fit my budget.
