40 Gallon Natural Gas Water Heater - N40T121-403 4.5 5 179 179
Hottest water so far! Wow! What a difference in the amount of hot water! Out unit is set only at hot and it cranks out more hot water than our 16 year old heater ever did! I did not rate the quality yet is it was just installed, but it seems like a well built unit. Like the darker color gray vs the white color. My friend just bought a 50 gallon 6year Whirlpool hot water heater, but I decided to go for the 40 gallon but with a 12 year warranty for the piece of mind, especially with the new sensors up front. We'll see if it lasts that long! July 14, 2011
So Far, So Good I replaced a 14 yr. old water heater with this one. The unit sits in an alcove in the garage that shares walls with the master bedroom area. I was worried that it was going to fail and cause damage to the wall and bedroom. This model was almost identical in size to the old unit so installation was fairly straightforward. I chose the Whirlpool over a competitor because the Whirpool's diameter was 1.5" less. If I had chosen the other brand, the gas line would have needed modification. This unit was a little bit taller than the old unit so I had to cut about 2" from the vent pipe. Otherwise it was pretty much plug-and-play. The most difficulty I had was getting the nipples on top to not leak. At first, I only used Teflon paste and both nipples had a slow leak. The trick was to use 3 layers of Teflon tape and Teflon paste on top of the tape. The new no-solder connectors make installation go a lot faster if you use them. I also installed a drain pan and added a sediment trap to the gas line which the old unit did not have. I just finished the install today and so far it is working like a champ. I'm running loads of laundry and washing dishes. It has cycled about 4 times so far. The recovery rate seems to be quicker than the old unit which I'm sure was full of scale. It only took one 90 sec. attempt to get the pilot lighted. The "Hot" setting is maintaining temperature at 120F. So far, so good. April 18, 2015
This is a great H/W heater Well built. Installation was routine. All parts and fittings are solid April 9, 2015
great product for the warranty and price EASE OF INSTALLATION, VERY GOOD FOR THE WARRANTY, AND OH NICE COLOR April 6, 2015
Good value for water heater After my original heater went out, this unit had the exact height, water hookups, and gas hookup dimensions as my old State unit. I liked the 12 year warranty and the pewter color. However, the pewter finish shows finger prints easily, and after installation, it took a lot wiping to clean it up. The "sparker" really helps lighting the pilot easy, and I like the blinking "pilot on" indicator. After the first week, I really like this 333564 heater. March 16, 2015
The appearance of this water heater is impressive. This water heater has now performed perfectly for a period of six days. It has given us all the hot water we have requested of it flawlessly. March 14, 2015
This product is very loud The heater was just installed. Easy installation. Heated water in about 1 hour. Very noisy February 15, 2015
This product was taller than the product description online by 4 inches, causing purchase of different fittings. This product said it was 58 inches tall in the online description and came in as 62 inches tall causing me to have to purchase two 18 inch flexible copper connections to make the installation work. I had purchased based on the product height to replace with the same plumbing set up. The box did say 62 inches when it arrived, just the online description was incorrect. February 11, 2015
Installation was easy; just needed new nipples Page 22 of the manual reads "The Gas Water Heater Hook-up KIT" under step 11...another shopping trip was required to purchase nipples. We purchased nipples with heat traps. The nipples on the old heater didn't appear to have ever had heat traps and nipples were the only NEW hook-up connections that we had to purchase for this install--easier to make the shopping trip compared to removing the old ones from the old heater.
