40 Gallon Natural Gas Water Heater - N40T121-403 4.5 5 239 239
Heats water FAST! Easy to get system back "online " Installation was easy and straight forward using a separately purchased kit that came with the proper fittings, gas line and water lines. First hot water heater that I've installed and it went fairly easily aside from the fact that upon filling the tank BOTH inlet and output nipples were leaking at the tank. This was later traced to ME not making then tight enough. REASON It seemed like they were stripping so I didn't want to make them too tight and strip out the fittings in the tank. Once I confirmed that the tanks female threads (where nipples screw into top of tank) were in fact METAL I gave them a GOOD tightening and it stopped the leaks! The heater was easy to fire up and did so within about 12 seconds. It heated all 40 gallons in about 1 1/2 hours. The unit IS a little noisy as I've noticed but its a non-issue since it's in the basement. Heats water fast! I do like the fact that this unit is NOT dependent on a 120V source as I live in a Coastal community (Far Rockaway, N.Y.) and we do at times have power outages! No power = no Hot Water if you rely on a 120V source, so just because of THIS I recommend this unit!! 4 1/2 starts out of 5 My Old Kenmore unit last 24 YEARS!! This is rated at 12 so I'll be happy to get 12-15+ out of it. Time will tell ...... July 2, 2015
Good product Water heater Installed without issues. 8-) P-) 8-) June 23, 2015
Amazing difference! Replaced the 15 year old model and couldn't believe the difference! HOT water almost instantly! Much less noise! Running less water waiting for it to heat up!!! We expect to see a big difference in the utility bill as well. June 14, 2015
Nice Product - Easy to Follow Instructions I'm not a plumber but had the tools needed since I've installed several WH in the past. This unit came with very easy-to-follow instructions and all worked as indicated, even the lighting procedure. My only beef was the lack of water nipples for the CW 'in' and HW 'out' connection to my new supply pipes. BTW -- thanks for including the 'checklist' on the install since this reminded me to check my water pressure first (using an inexpensive $11 gauge) and I discovered my house pressure-reducer was completely shot. Once I replaced that I quickly turned the unit on and the Hot Water was ready in about an hour, more or less. June 10, 2015
It lasts a long time-(over 15 yrs) easy to install, but had a problem with leaks around the heat trap nipples. June 2, 2015
12 yr warenty is the way to go!! It was an easy install, no problems. Lighting the pilot was as easy as pressing a button. June 1, 2015
Water connections are trouble free The input & output water connections were simple and leak free (as opposed to the previous water heater - a GE - which were difficult and leak prone). The gas & burner controls are made by Honeywell, which is a plus. This is just the first day, so we'll see how it goes. July 4, 2015
This water heater has on-board diagnostics! This is a well made in the USA water heater. It also has the Energy Star Rating. Some of the features are, a automatic flue damper, an electronic pilot, extra insulation. June 27, 2015
Value for Money Very impressed with the Product.. I have used it for only one day but still when compared to the old unit I had, this unit is working well beyond my expectations.. Originally bought the product a week back but had to return it to Lowes as there were some dents and scratches on the body, Lowes was good enough to replace the Product and it took only about 4 hrs to install the heater. I am hoping this unit will lower my energy bill considerably, too early to comment on the electronics, but I hope it would last long June 22, 2015
The product has great temperation selections.maintenance This is hopefully as good as the one it replaced, This is my third Whirlpool Water Heater installed in my home in 35 years. When I bought the House it had a Whirlpool water heater that was installed in 1966. It failed in 1982. I installed a New Whirlpool that lasted until 2002, and the replacement lasted 12years and 8 months,so yes I think I will be happy with this one too. May 2, 2015
