Hottest water so far! Wow! What a difference in the amount of hot water! Out unit is set only at hot and it cranks out more hot water than our 16 year old heater ever did! I did not rate the quality yet is it was just installed, but it seems like a well built unit. Like the darker color gray vs the white color. My friend just bought a 50 gallon 6year Whirlpool hot water heater, but I decided to go for the 40 gallon but with a 12 year warranty for the piece of mind, especially with the new sensors up front. We'll see if it lasts that long! July 14, 2011
The product has great temperation selections.maintenance This is hopefully as good as the one it replaced, This is my third Whirlpool Water Heater installed in my home in 35 years. When I bought the House it had a Whirlpool water heater that was installed in 1966. It failed in 1982. I installed a New Whirlpool that lasted until 2002, and the replacement lasted 12years and 8 months,so yes I think I will be happy with this one too. May 2, 2015
Excellent Product Design The heater was completely functional for all features at startup "off the shelf." Everything worked without any adjustments, trouble shooting, and the like. I am pleased to have installed a major plumbing item without getting a major startup project in the mix. April 30, 2015

Easy to install great value considering the warranty Very easy to install. Great value considering the warranty (12 years) . I like the new gas controller, very easy to light and the status indicator lets you know everything is working April 26, 2015
good product This water heater was purchased at Lowe's. Had no problem with the instructions. The led status light is a neat feature. And the 12 year warranty u just can't beat! April 26, 2015
Made in the USA The tank was easy to install, looks good, and fired right up after completion of the installation. April 25, 2015
So Far, So Good I replaced a 14 yr. old water heater with this one. The unit sits in an alcove in the garage that shares walls with the master bedroom area. I was worried that it was going to fail and cause damage to the wall and bedroom. This model was almost identical in size to the old unit so installation was fairly straightforward. I chose the Whirlpool over a competitor because the Whirpool's diameter was 1.5" less. If I had chosen the other brand, the gas line would have needed modification. This unit was a little bit taller than the old unit so I had to cut about 2" from the vent pipe. Otherwise it was pretty much plug-and-play. The most difficulty I had was getting the nipples on top to not leak. At first, I only used Teflon paste and both nipples had a slow leak. The trick was to use 3 layers of Teflon tape and Teflon paste on top of the tape. The new no-solder connectors make installation go a lot faster if you use them. I also installed a drain pan and added a sediment trap to the gas line which the old unit did not have. I just finished the install today and so far it is working like a champ. I'm running loads of laundry and washing dishes. It has cycled about 4 times so far. The recovery rate seems to be quicker than the old unit which I'm sure was full of scale. It only took one 90 sec. attempt to get the pilot lighted. The "Hot" setting is maintaining temperature at 120F. So far, so good. April 18, 2015
